I need a Ramble time loop

Hi guys.

The hellatus is almost over! *hooray! confetti! it's a parade!*

Here's the thing, though. In the weeks we've been apart from our boys (and in many cases, each other), a lot has been happening on the Gaelic front. As in my life, not as in with our friends over on the Emeral Isle. Which you knew. ANYWAY.

As many of you who swing by my journal off and on know, I've been working as a contractor/consultant for the past 6.5 years. That means a quarterly stress-fest to make sure I have a job in order to support my family. Good times. While I was in California this past week, I was offered an additional role (no, not a new one, an additional one) that may not guarantee me being hired, but would definitely increase my exposure across the company.

This is good news on one front as I'm the sole financial provider for our little family and any steps that I can take to keep myself viable and critical and employed are positive (as would any reciprical pay increases, naturally). But, what it means is that I'll be increasing not only my hours, but also my travel for a bit (those of you in the UK - I could be in London a fair bit, so maybe we can find each other).

What does this all have to do with SPN and the Rambles, you ask?

It's going to be increasingly difficult for me to keep them up as I have been doing. I won't abandon them entirely; I personally really enjoy filtering through my episodic thoughts and talking about it all with you guys. But I won't be able to guarantee the immediacy as I have been doing -- I may not even be able to watch the episodes until two or three days later, depending if I'm traveling or in late meetings -- and I feel like the immediacy of the review is one of the primary draws for readers.

There are so many peeps out there who write up entertaining, insightful, and thought-provoking meta and reviews, I know mine is merely a blip on the radar, but it's been an important blip for me for going on 8 seasons now. Which is why this change is hard for me to put into action. A part of me hates having to admit I can't figure out a way to keep this committment because it feels like the first step to a parting of ways with different folks whose interactions have been the highlight of my weeks for years. But, I have to accept my limitations, and fitting this review in each week is not something I will be able to keep up with the change in my employment situation.

SO! As I'm able to watch and ramble, I'll post them in all the usual places, but it unfortunately will not be on a consistent basis or even every week, depending. I really do hope ya'll will come back as often as you can because I will miss you. I watch for certain names -- the regulars after so many years -- and I get a thrill out of seeing new names.

I hope you guys understand, and I am sorry about this.

With that, I'm off to reply to comments from the latest episode! I was waiting until this weekend to help rev up for the return on the 20th, even though now I'll be in Miami on the 20th and won't be able to watch until later on. Hope you guys have been doing okay over the hellatus and are looking forward to the boys' return.

Oh, and don't forget that in March (the 18th, I believe) we shift from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. Supernatural Hump Day. Seems fitting. *grins*

I plan on having a discussion with you about this next weekend anyway, so good. :)

While I'll miss the rambles being posted regularly as I've been used to for the last 6 years (WOW), I'd rather read yours when possible than anyone else's, so this doesn't change anything for me, really ;)

I hope this new opportunity brings you & your family luck, my friend. & since you'll be traveling more around Europe, who knows, maybe Israel will be next on your map? :)

See you after the 20th!
Jan. 17th, 2015 06:47 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much for this -- it's exactly what I needed to hear. :) I always look forward to hearing from you, my friend. And will continue to do so. And who knows --> the territory I'd be covering with this additional role is EMEAR: Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia. So, you never know if we might be able to actually MEET one day!! :)

Take good care of you. Always.

Honestly? This will make it WAY easier for me to get back into actually catching up with the rambles! As I have to write my own review before I feel like I can read anyone else's, this is helpful from my timeline. I'll be able to (hopefully) jump right in to read rather than trying to remember to go back and do so. So selfish me!

I'm jealous of your increase in travel- especially to the "real" London! But I know you aren't so big on the flying part and it's also hard on your whole family. Glad to see you getting a step closer to being more permanently employed. I hope that you are getting at least a nice bump in pay though!

I'm sure that I won't be the only one to say that regardless of how many other reviews, recaps, etc there may be out there, I'll ALWAYS be interested in YOUR thoughts because they're YOURS.

Congrats! Come to us when you can with whatever you can spare - this is all part of enjoying the show, right?
Jan. 22nd, 2015 03:23 pm (UTC)
Awesome! I hope I get to see more of you over here.

The travel to the real London will be great -- it's the frequent ones across the US that are going to kill me. Especially b/c I have rarely get time to "catch up."

Thank you so much for letting me know you'll be interested in reading MY thoughts. I feel rather insecure about that at times. Which is to say, always. :)
Jan. 17th, 2015 08:21 pm (UTC)
Eh, don't worry about it, a good ramble is always worth a read! And congratulations on the job news, that is great for you!
Jan. 22nd, 2015 03:25 pm (UTC)
*virtual fist bump*

Thanks, my friend. :)
Jan. 17th, 2015 09:16 pm (UTC)
Congrats on your job offer! Marketing ones self in an company or industry is so difficult. Hopefully this is a stepping stone toward advancement and job security for you.

Your Rambles are always interesting and fun and that won't change no matter when (or if) you get time to post them.

Best of luck!

Jan. 22nd, 2015 03:29 pm (UTC)
The job security part is the biggest part of this for me. I am only hopeful this gamble with my time pays off.

I hope I still see you around here! :)
Jan. 17th, 2015 09:42 pm (UTC)
I will greatly miss our weekly 'get together' but totally understand that real life has to come first. I look forward to whatever, whenever you are able to post :)

Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:07 am (UTC)
Thanks, my friend. :)I will miss the consistent schedule, but hopefully will still get to see you often. AND, if this new job works out like they say it might, maybe I'll actually get to SEE you see you.

Congrats on your additional work role, I know you'll be fantastic! I'll send you good vibes & such for all the added responsibilities, I recently know how that is myself.

Ramble when you can & when you can't that's okay too. As my free time permits (which isn't consistent by any means) I'll try to pop in, I know I've been bad about that this season. Reading your take on the show is always a bright spot, not matter when it is posted.

And maybe some day, we'll get to hang out again. If not, seasons change.

See you soon! And Happy Musketeers Day!
Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:09 am (UTC)
Thank you! After spending a day catching up after the latest trip to Miami, I can tell you it's going to be a LOT of coordination and hours, at least up front. Hopefully it will get easier as things unfold.

I want you to pop in as often as you can! I look forward to seeing you and I want lunch again soon! :)
Jan. 18th, 2015 12:58 am (UTC)
Whenever they appear, your Rambles will be worthwhile reading. I am feeling sorrier for you in having to delay watching the show air live :)

Best of luck with the new job responsibilities!
Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:11 am (UTC)
Thank you, my friend -- that means a lot coming from you. And YES! I actually haven't even watched this week's yet b/c I'm trying to catch up from the travel to Miami. I could watch now, but Terry (ThruTerrysEyes) is coming to visit this weekend and I said I'd wait to watch with her tomorrow. SO! Ramble to soon follow! :)

See you soon.
Jan. 18th, 2015 01:00 am (UTC)
Whenever you can right them, I will be there to read them! I usually can't stay up to read them that night anymore anyhow. I am so glad for you on the job front. Job security is a big deal and I hope this leads to something more permanent.

Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:12 am (UTC)
Thank you -- it's going to be a LOT of work, but if it keeps me employed for longer, then it'll be worth it.

And I look forward to seeing your name, so hopefully this delay will work out for you in the long run. :)
Jan. 18th, 2015 02:43 am (UTC)
Glad to see you getting the recognition (now the money needs to be added) so Congrats on that.

I will look forward to when the rambles are posted.
Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:16 am (UTC)
Yeah, the money thing has me a bit tense -- as a contractor, I have to negotiate any "raises" and that is not something I'm good at. I'm working on my 'argument' right now. Yipe.

And Yay! Hopefully I won't make you wait too long...but I haven't even seen this week's yet, so hopefully this weekend.

Thank you!
Jan. 18th, 2015 02:52 am (UTC)
I will always read your Ramble, Gaelic - it's one of the very best reviews or responses to an episode and I always look forward to it.

I'm certainly not going to be annoyed if you're late or whatever. As you may recall, I have major RL baggage...and so do you! And when Real Life demands hit a certain level, there is no way to participate the way you might want to in fandom. There just isn't. I remember during my "Lord of the Rings" days... I wanted to write so much fanfic, but I only wrote a couple of stories because it simply wasn't possible. In brief: I understand and you won't get any flak from me, that's for sure. (Speaking of LOTR, something wonderful just happened. My teenage daughter just discovered she loves it passionately. It's such a joy to see her grow up to "get it"!)

Best of luck with the job, and I hope you will have some time to write your Rambles, even if in airports or hotels...and even if a bit late. :) I'll read 'em!
Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:20 am (UTC)
Hooray! I'm so glad to know that you're still going to be reading. I would miss you if you didn't!

And I LOVE that you're daughter is now enamored with Tolkien! My daughter is only 8, so we've watched the animated Hobbit and I've told her the (very abridged) story of the LOTRs, but I have a few years yet before she can truly appreciate it.

I will be Rambling this week's episode, soon. Thanks for coming by!

Thanks! I just have to negotiate that part. ;) I have to added responsibilities, hours, and travel down...now just gotta figure out what all that's worth.

Mazl tov on more money

Oh, I really hope this additional load brings you the recognition, compensation and satisfaction you deserve! I know additional travel will be hard for you, being away from the family, but here's hoping it will be a smooth adjustment.

As for the rambles, do them when you can and wish to. All the best, dear lady :)
Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:24 am (UTC)
Thank you! I hope so, too. Sometimes it feels like a daily uphill battle.

And thank you, too, for letting me know you'll still read. YAY! :)
Jan. 18th, 2015 05:27 am (UTC)
Good luck with your additional job! Hope it doesn't stress you out too much. I know what it's like to be sole wage earner.

Looking forward to your rambles as they come :)
Jan. 23rd, 2015 02:26 am (UTC)
Yeah, it's stressful, right? Sometimes I can feel myself going into panic attack mode at the mere thought of 'what if.' So, thank you.

And so glad you'll still read. :)
